On 09 September 2016, Tammany Williams, owner of Celebrate Excellence, was appointed Bexar County’s Honorary Fire Marshal. “I am so thrilled to be selected by our Fire Marshal, Chief Chris Lopez, for this amazing honor,” reports Tammany. “It has been our distinct pleasure to work closely with the amazing men and women of our Fire Marshal’s office over the past year. Chief Lopez has an amazing team!”
During the past year, Celebrate Excellence has worked with the Fire Marshal’s office in designing and producing their new badges and challenge coins.
The primary duty of the Bexar County Fire Marshal’s Office (BCFMO) is to develop, foster and promote methods of protecting the lives and property of the citizens of Bexar County from fires, both natural and man-made hazards, and other significant events through the direct coordination and action with other public safety, private, and business communities. The BCFMO staff takes pride in the execution of this responsibility with the highest standards of professionalism, efficiency, integrity and accountability.
The BCFMO consists of five functions: Fire Code Compliance & Enforcement, Fire Prevention & Inspections, Fire/Arson Investigations, Fire Dispatch Communications, and Community Outreach Initiatives. The BCFMO staff provides rapid response to requests for investigations, inspections, fire code compliance, and emergency management assistance.
“In 2015, Tammany made our new badges and then my Fire Marshal challenge coin,” adds Chief Lopez. “I cannot tell you how much we have enjoyed the professional relationship with Celebrate Excellence. They have been superb business partners – their products and service exceeded our expectations.”
In addition to an Honorary Warrant of Appointment – Tammany was given her own “HONORARY FIRE MARSHAL” badge. “This is definitely one of the highlights of my career! To be in any way associated with this Fire Marshal – who has the admiration and respect of so many Bexar County leaders – well, to say it is an honor is an understatement!”
Celebrate Excellence supports the Fire Marshal community by attending the annual Texas Fire Marshal’s Conference as a sponsor. In addition to challenge coins for Bexar County, Celebrate Excellence makes coins for the State Fire Marshal, the North Texas Fire Marshals Association, Tarrant County Arson, El Paso Fire Marshal, San Antonio Police Chief, Bexar County Sheriff’s Honor Guard and many more. Celebrate Excellence is HUB certified – a woman-owned, Texas-based business.
Celebrate Excellence has been recognized as one of the top corporate supporters of the 37th Training Wing. “I want to recognize Tammany Williams and her team for their outstanding support to the men and women of the 37th Training Wing,” stated Brig Gen Trent Edwards, Commander, 37 TRW. At a luncheon on Tuesday, 17 May 2016, Celebrate Excellence was one of 6 companies chosen to be recognized for their partnership and support of JBSA – Lackland.
As one of his last official acts as the 37th Commander, Brig Gen Edwards honored a handful of businesses whom, in his words, “worked above and beyond the call of duty in their support of our Airmen and our mission.” Along with Celebrate Excellence, Brig Gen recognized USAA, the San Antonio Intercontinental Airport, the USO, and Acadiana Cafe as outstanding mission partners.
The 37th Training Wing is the largest wing in the US Air Force. It is the home of the Air Force’s Basic Military Training and serves as the host Wing for JBSA – Lackland. Through BMT and the 37th’s myriad technical training schools – over 80,000 students graduate annually from Lackland.
Brig Gen Edwards thanked Tammany for helping him with his Wing Commander and personal coin and for helping the Wing with their annual and quarterly awards.

It happened nearly 100 years ago, during WWI, at a battle between the Germans and Americans on the Vesle River, near the town of Bazoches. During a fierce 3 day fight, beginning on August 7, 1918, US and Allied Forces faced the German army on this field in France. American soldiers emerged from trenches dug in the field to advance on the German army. Many were shot and laid injured on the battlefield – unable to climb back to safety. Three times, under heavy gunfire, a young soldier from New York, Sgt William Shemin, ignored his own personal safety to climb out of the trenches. He carried Americans injured and fallen on the battle field back into safety. He continued this rescue until he himself was injured.
It was not until June 2, 2015, that Sgt Shemin’s actions were recognized and he was awarded our country’s highest military distinction – the Medal of Honor. At a White House ceremony, President Obama presented the Shemin Family the Medal of Honor for the actions of their father, Sgt William Shemin, during the Battle of Bazoches.
We were contacted by Elsie Roth-Shemin and Richard Shemin, MD, and asked to create both a challenge coin and a lapel pin for the family and close friends of Sgt Shemin. It has been our distinct honor to work with the family and to design and manufacture a unique coin and pin recognizing the valiant actions of their father.
“I never knew what a challenge coin was,” says Elsie Shemin-Roth. “It was only at the White House this past June 2nd, when the President of the United States awarded the Medal of Honor to my father … that I saw many in the military exchanging coins.” It was then that the Shemin family decided to honor their father by creating both a coin and a lapel pin to share with close friends and family. “Your company’s name [Celebrate Excellence] came up by several people there as the one to help me design a coin to honor my father.”
Over the next few weeks, a solid brass die-struck coin using a photo insert of Sgt Shemin was designed and minted. Adds Elsie, “I have a challenge coin and lapel pin that all of us will treasure and will help us remember our time at the White House and Pentagon – honoring an outstanding American hero. I have you and your team to thank for that!”
The Senior NCO Reception – San Antonio’s Celebrate America’s Military kick off event – was held on Thursday, 29 November, 2015. This was Celebrate Excellence’s 3rd year as the major sponsor for the event. Over 320 SNCO’s from all 5 services were in attendance. “We had wonderful weather and a great venue,” reports Tammany Williams, owner of Celebrate Excellence.
The SNCO Reception was held at the historic VFW Post 76, Texas’ oldest VFW. Situated on the San Antonio River near downtown, Post 76 hosted San Antonio’s first event of the 11 day Celebrate America’s Military (CAM) event.
“This reception has grown every year since we started 4 years ago,” reports Tammany. “We have grown from 8 people to over 320 this year!
It is fitting in “Military City USA” that we honor the amazing senior NCO leadership in this town. That’s what this reception is all about – celebrating the backbone of our military – the NCO’s!”
CAM is a tradition unlike any other, where San Antonio expresses its appreciation to these heroes – our Senior Non-Commissioned Officers. CAM is the largest community-wide celebration of the military throughout the USA.
JBSA-San Antonio’s Command Chief, CMSgt Stan Cadell, addressed the audience. “In my 24 years of service I have never seen a Chamber of Commerce that has supported enlisted personnel like the one here in San Antonio!” The San Antonio Chamber of Commerce supports its military community through the Military Affairs Committee and the Senior Enlisted Advisory Committee.
In addition to sponsoring, Celebrate Excellence designed and manufactured the official “Celebrate American’s Military” challenge coin for 2015.
This year’s CAM coin was provided by The Valor Club. “The Valor Club is a one of a kind residential/recreational community born out of a desire to repay some of the debt we owe to our beloved military,” adds Valor Club President, Dan Pedrotti. “The Valor Club is proud to be a partner with the Celebrate America’s Military tradition.”

In April we delivered challenge coins to CMSAF #12 Eric Benken. CMSAF Benken served in the nation’s highest enlisted position from November 1996 – July 1999. He continues to serve our Airmen by traveling throughout the world speaking at military receptions, graduations and events.
“Tammany, the coins are awesome,” reported Chief Benken when he visited our showroom to pick up his new coins. “I’ll be proud to hand them out to deserving Airmen.”
“I cannot tell you how excited we were to work with Chief Benken,” added Celebrate Excellence owner, Tammany Williams. “His level of personal success and his ongoing support of the USAF and its Airmen is very motivating.”
The new CMSAF #12 coin is a solid brass die struck coin with an antique silver electroplated finish. The CMSAF emblem is completed in 3-D relief. We appreciate the great opportunity to create a coin that will be cherished by military and civilian personnel!
Tammany Williams, owner of Celebrate Excellence / Successories, was recently honored by being selected as “Honorary First Sergeant” by the JBSA – Lackland First Sergeant Council. This is the first time in Lackland history that a First Sergeant Council has honored a civilian in this way. “There has always been a special place in my heart for the Shirts,” reports Tammany. “They are such amazing people who not only serve their country – but are chosen to serve their Airmen as well. These men and women work 24/7 – anything we can do to help support them is an honor in itself.” In a December 18th meeting – Tammany was recognized as a long-time supporter of the JBSA-Lackland First Sergeant Council – who chose her for this honor by a unanimous vote of the Council. According to MSgt Walter Hodges, First Sergeant with the 341 RCS, “She is one of our family!”
