Artwork Approval

After your FAA is signed, we turn your artwork over to the factory, who will make adjustments to the art so production may begin. The factory will not begin production until your approval. Unlike the FAA, there is no form to sign, so you may give verbal or written permission by phone or email.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How long does it take for me to receive my coins?
A: From the time your final artwork approval (FAA) has been signed and returned, the typical turnaround is 4 to 4 ½ weeks.

Q: How much do Challenge Coins cost to make?
A: The pricing of your Challenge Coin varies greatly depending on the size, quantity and the design options you’ve chosen, such as 3D relief. If you order 100 coins or more, we wave all die and mold fees. We also offer price breaks for every 100 coins ordered.

Q: What metal is being used to make my coins?
A: Our standard is jewelry-quality brass, but we also offer iron and zinc options.

Q: Can you make Challenge Coins with a special shape?
A: Yes! If you’d like to take a look at some of the special shaped coins we’ve created in the past, please take a look at our gallery.

Q: What is a 3D Challenge Coin? How is it different from 2D?
A: A 3D Challenge Coin has varied levels of metal, like a raised curved sculpture. A 2D Challenge Coin also has varied metal levels in the form of raised lines, but this is for the purposes of filling certain areas with paint. The raised line will always share the same color as the metal finish of the coin. For images and examples, please visit our gallery.

Q: What is the minimum amount of Challenge Coins I can order?
A: The minimum order for Challenge Coins is 50.

Q: Can I make a single Challenge Coin?
A: It’s possible to create a single Challenge Coin, but because creating a mold is very expensive, the price for a single coin will be high.

Q: What is the standard size of a Challenge Coin?
A: The military standard is 1.75’’.

Q: What is the standard thickness of a Challenge Coin?
A: The military standard is 3.5mm, .5mm thicker than the average internet Challenge Coin company provides.

Q: How do I get taxes removed if I am tax exempt?
A: If you are tax exempt, please send us the appropriate paperwork, and we will adjust your quote accordingly.

Q: What payment options do you accept?
A: We accept checks, cash, debit, credit cards and GPC. We have an online payment portal as well as a call-in service. We can also send you copies of your receipt by email.

Q: How much does shipping cost?
A: Our standard shipping, which uses USPS Priority Mail, is always free! If you would like to get expedited shipping, we can quote you a price based on the weight of your package.

Q: Can you ship to APO addresses or overseas?
A: We do ship to APO addresses, as well as overseas. For non-APO overseas addresses, however, you will need to pay for shipping. Shipping to APO addresses is free.

Q: Can I get reorders of previous coins?
A: Yes! We keep your coin molds/dies on record for up to five years.

A: Celebrate Excellence will never sell your Custom Challenge Coins to anyone. We order one extra coin to keep in our showroom as part of our portfolio, but the coins your order belong solely to you.

Q: Can I get an order rushed if I need a quick turnaround?
A: Yes, but a rush fee will apply.

Q: If I have artwork or a picture of my idea, what is the best image format to send?
A: If you have vector artwork, our preferred file format is .cdr. We also accept .ai. If you have a standard image, our preference is for a high quality 300dpi .png or .jpg.

Q: What if I do not have a picture of what I want on my coin?
A: We can create custom artwork based on your needs! Our sales agents are happy to work with you to create potential designs for our art team to bring to life.

Q: How long does it take for me to get my art?
A: The turnaround time after paying your art deposit is typically one business week.

Q: Do I need to pay an art fee?
A: No. However, we do require a paid art deposit of $75 to begin art creation. This $75 is not an added charge, but is a portion of the final order payment upfront. However, if you for some reason cancel order, this deposit is nonrefundable.

Q: What should I look for on my proof when I receive it?
A: Remember to check that the design elements and the spelling of words is consistent with what you want. While colors do sometimes look different on different monitors, the color on the coin will ultimately match the pantone color number, which corresponds directly to a paint mix. Pantone is a universal way to tracking color consistency.

Q: Is there a limit to the number changes I can make on my artwork?
A: We do not limit the number of changes or revisions. There are no extension fees after the initial artwork deposit.

Q: Do you engrave your logo or company name on our Challenge Coin?
A: We never engrave our logo, company name, or any other unwanted markings on your Challenge Coin.

Q: Am I able to use my coin artwork for other merchandise?
A: The artwork we create for your Challenge Coin is the intellectual property of Celebrate Excellence and is owned by us, but you may purchase the rights from us with a one-time fee. After that, you are the sole owner of the art and may do with it whatever you like.

Q: Can I get a sample coin made before the full order goes into production?
A: You can get a spec sample coin created, but it will require that you pay the price for the full amount of coins. This will also extend production by about two weeks to get the spec sample delivered and approved before production can continue.

Q: What is an FAA?
A: That stands for Final Artwork Approval. The FAA is the form we give you to sign after you’ve approved your artwork. Please read through it carefully! The FAA is distinct from the factory proof, which comes directly from the factory, and must also approved via email before we can proceed with production. Remember to keep an eye on your email for these!
